چکیده

In this paper, the performance of a parallel acquisition scheme is evaluated for a direct-sequence/codedivision-multiple-access (DS/CDMA) system with imperfect power control in a low-earth-orbit (LEO) mobile satellite environment. The acquisition scheme consists of a parallel matched-filter and a FFT processor. The uplink of mobile satellite channel is modeled as a shadowed Rician fading channel. The acquisition performance is evaluated in terms of mean acquisition time. The effect of power control error is considered in the analysis of acquisition performance. And acquisition-based c a p a c i t y is defined and estimated. It is shown that the power control error causes acquisition to be slower than the case of perfect power control, and for high SNR/chip, the effect of power control error becomes less significant. The better acquisition performance is achieved for the case of high elevation angle compared to that of low elevation angle because the propagation conditions becomes worse as the elevation angle is lower.

The performance of turbo coding over power-controlled fading channel in Ka-band LEO satellite systems

In this paper, the integration of power control and turbo coding is adopted to achieve reliable communications over Ka-band code-division multiple-access (CDMA)-based low earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems. The effect of imperfect power control on the bit error ratio (BER) performance is analyzed, and the upper bounds on BER are also derived for the case of slow and fast imperfect power contro...

Forward-link capacity of a DS/CDMA system with mixed multirate sources

Some studies have been done on capacity of a code division multiple access (CDMA) system with mixed multirate sources. However, a vast majority of these studies have concentrated on the reverse link. This trend comes from the fact that the capacity of a CDMA system is reverse-link limited. However, forward link can be a limiting link because emerging data services are likely to require higher d...

Power control and capacity analysis for a packetized indoor multimedia DS-CDMA network

This paper proposes a packetized indoor wireless system using direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) protocol. The indoor radio environment is characterized by slow Rayleigh fading with or without lognormal shadowing. The system supports multimedia services with various transmission rates and quality of service (QoS) requirements and allows for seamless interfacing to asynchron...
